His religious mother was a follower of Vaishnavism, which worships the Hindu god Vishnu, and was also influenced by Jainism, which is an ascetic religion with rules about self-discipline and nonviolence.

He left home at the age of 19 to study law in London at the Inner Temple, one of the city’s four law schools, where he would stay for two years. Gandhi was given all of the power of the Indian National Congress (also known as the Congress Party), and he used it to turn the independence movement into a huge group. A Divided Movement

Gandhi announced in 1934 that he was giving up politics and the Congress Party so that he could spend more time working with people in rural areas. When World War II broke out, Gandhi was dragged back into politics again. He again led the Indian National Congress, demanding that the British leave India in exchange for Indian help in the war. Instead, British forces arrested the entire leadership of the Congress. This brought the relationship between the two countries to a new low.
